Another One...

Good morning everyone! My name is Anouk Segers and I will be taking over the Family Cake Company blog till the end of June. So you are stuck with me for a while.

So a bit about me, I’m 19 years of age, I was born on a little island called Aruba, lived there for 14 years. Aruba is everything you would want for your ideal vacation, white sandy beaches, beautiful blue ocean, and its always nice weather. People call me crazy for leaving “paradise” but after a few years it gets (believe it or not) a bit boring. I was ready for a change (as well as the fact that the educational system wasn’t that great in Aruba at the time) and then I moved to the Netherlands (no not Amsterdam). I moved to the “beautiful” city called Eindhoven, where Philips was founded. Actually our football team just won the national competition, so proud. Finished off my secondary education there and now I’m doing my second year of International Business and Management Studies at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda. They make you do a 6-month internship in a foreign country so that is how I ended up here.

I really love London, it’s a great city and so different from any other city I have ever lived in. Everyone is always busy and you can really notice the fact that 8.3 million people live here, which is like half of the entire population of the Netherlands. Once you do all of the touristy things you start to feel like a real Londoner, even though I’m not really, I like to pretend I am and get annoyed by all the tourists in the underground hehe.

Anyway enough about me, I’m looking forward to gaining more experience at the Family Cake Company, on my first day I got a nice image of the company and the people in it. I will be continuing on where the previous intern left off so no need to worry!

Speak soon!

SPRING!!

We hope that everyone had a wonderful and EGGcellent long Easter weekend! See what I did there? I hope so. BUT! Now that Easter is over and done with we look forward to the rest of the year! It's finally starting to feel like Spring out there these last couple of days and we hope that all of you are taking advantage of the nice weather. Oh! I have an idea! A picnic! It's finally picnic season and do you know what goes good with picnics? Well, yes, champagne would be great.... but no, I was talking about CAKE!

What kind of picnic doesn't end with a delicious dessert?? The answer is no kind of picnic. Just make sure not to only pack cake, though we wouldn't blame you if you did.

We do suggest a stroll through one of the many parks here in London over the next few weeks. The trees are blooming with flowers, the smell of Spring is in the air, and yes, the squirrels are back. Missed those buggers... Now is a wonderful opportunity to take it all in, and maybe have a moment of zen. This week has blessed us with a nice break from the harsh Winter of 2k15.

From Family Cakes we wish you a great day and hope you look forward to a beautiful Spring.

Easter is on the way!

Easter is right around the corner! For some, this holiday is all about remembering the man who died for their sins, only to come back to life on this day a couple thousand years ago. And for others it's just about goodies the Easter Bunny will be bringing!

Sadly he doesn't typically bring cake... Do you see what I'm getting at here? No? Well then I'll lay it out for you. Cake is perfect for any holiday or celebration, and we have all the Easter themed cakes, cupcakes, chocolates and whatever else the Easter Bunny could provide. So we are basically saying that we are possibly better than that silly rabbit. (If he doesn't show up this Easter... well, we don't know what happened.....)

But let's be honest, Easter is about spending time with your family and being thankful. So from all of us at Family Cakes we would like to extend our wishes for a very happy and healthy Easter! With possibly a little cake on the side!
